Western Blot antibodies
Western blotting is a key process for identifying specific proteins. Samples thought to contain the protein of interest are run out on an electrophoresis gel, the term ‘blotting’ refers to the transfer of biological samples from the gel to a membrane and their subsequent detection on the surface of the membrane. The proteins on this immunoblot are then accessible for antibody binding for detection.
Western blotting is mainly performed by probing the membrane with a primary antibody specific for the protein or protein epitope of interest. Often the primary antibody which recognizes the target protein or epitope in a Western Blot procedure is not easily detectable. This problem can be overcome by using a conjugated secondary antibody with an attached colormetric, fluorimetric or radioactive tag. A wide variety of labelled secondary detection reagents can also be used for Western blot detection.
Fitzgerald Industries supplies one of the widest ranges of primary and secondary Western blot antibodies available. Our high quality monoclonal and polyclonal Western blot antibodies are the ideal choice for anyone performing an immunoblotting procedure in the research or diagnostic laboratory. Our Western blot antibodies have been vigorously assessed for their optimum dilution levels and are available with a wide variety of conjugated tags for improved results.
Some of our most popular Western blot antibodies include:
HBsAg antibody: HBsAg is the surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It indicates current hepatitis B infection. This monoclonal HBsAg antibody is a purified IgM is suitable for use in ELISA and Immunoflourescence procedures as well as Western Blot.
CD154 antibody (FITC): CD154 is primarily expressed on activated T cells and is a member of the TNF superfamily of molecules. It is a commonly used indicator of immune system function. This monoclonal CD154 antibody is specific for human CD154 and can vbe used in ELISA, immunofluorescence, Flow cytometry and in Western blotting, making this one of our most popular fluorescein-conjugated WB antibodies.
Goat anti Human IgG (HRP): This goat polyclonal human IgG antibody with its horseradish peroxidase tag is one of our most widely used Western blot secondary antibodies. It is a cheap and reliable secondary antibody, and its 1 mg pack size can be diluted as far as 1:20,000 so this antibody will last many years. It can also be applied to ELISA, IHC and ICC, making it a popular secondary antibody for human IgG detection.
Ubiquitin antibody: Ubiquitin is a small regulatory protein that has been found in almost all eukaryotic cells, It directs proteins to recycling among other functions. This affinity purified rabbit polyclonal ubiquitin antibody offers excellent results in Western blotting. It can also be applied to paraffin IHC sections. Below shows a western blot analysis of various cell lines using this Ubiquitin mAb.

beta Galactosidase antibody (FITC): beta-galactosidase is an important hydrolase enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of beta-galactosides into monosaccharides. This FITC labelled beta Galactosidase antibody is validated in Western blotting and Immunofluorescence.
|Western blot using Fluorescein conjugated beta Galactosidase
antibody shows a band at ~117 kDa (lanes 1 - 3) corresponding
to 60 ng, 30 ng and 15 ng, respectively of b-Gal present in partially
purified preparations (arrowhead).
