Let' dive straight in, what is the Pint of Science? It is a festival of talks from knowledgeable scientists about their research. What makes this festival unique? These talks are held in the relaxed environment of a local pub! The dates for this year are the 18th to the 20th of May and the festival is being held in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, USA, Spain, Germany, Brazil and Australia! You can find out more about your local event, and get some tickets by going to the Pint of Science website.

This year promises to be massive with over 600 evenings of science across 50 cities, in 9 countries with scientists giving talks under the following topics: 'Beautiful Mind', 'Our Body', 'Tech Me Out', 'Atoms to Galaxies', 'Planet Earth', and 'Our Society'. The aim of this program is to bring science to a wider audience, by making research more accessible. This is done through researchers giving their talks to the public using accessible language and in a "down to earth setting over a drink or two", according to founder Dr Michael Motskin.

Motskin said that unlike TED, Pint of Science hoped to be a "grassroots" movement that focused on small stages and a more personal approach.
