General Information
| Biological Significance | Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) is a direct metabolite of the beverage alcohol, namely ethanol. It is used as a marker of alcohol intake as it can be detected in urine following ingestion. Methods to detect EtG include immunoassay (EIA or ELISA), gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). |
