General Information

Biological Significance Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)belongs to a group of cancer causingviruses known as 'oncornaviruses'.It is a retrovirus that infects cats and canbe transmitted from infected catsthrough the transfer of saliva or nasal secretions.
Implications in Disease Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is the second most common cause of death in cats, killing 85% of persistently infected felines within three years of diagnosis. The virus causes anemia or lymphoma and suppresses the immune system which leads to deadly infections.
