General Information
| Biological Significance | Immunoglobulin G (IgG) are antibody molecules. Each IgG is composed of four peptide chains - two heavy chains ? and two light chains. Each IgG has two antigen binding sites. Other Immunoglobulins may be described in terms of polymers with the IgG structure considered the monomer. The Fc (Fragment, crystallizable) region is composed of two heavy chains that contribute two or three constant domains depending on the class of the antibody. Thus, the Fc region ensures that each antibody generates an appropriate immune response for a given antigen. |
