Store vial at -20 deg C prior to opening. Aliquot and freeze at -20 deg C or below for long term storage. This product is stable for several weeks at 4 deg C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Biological Significance
Haptoglobin (abbreviated as Hp) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HP gene. In blood plasma, haptoglobin binds free hemoglobin released from erythrocytes with high affinity and thereby inhibits its oxidative activity. The haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex will then be removed by the reticuloendothelial system (mostly the spleen).
