General Information
| Biological Significance | Herpes Simplex Virus is composed of 2 main types, HSV1 and HSV2. The main difference between the two types is ithe location where theyestablish latency in the body. HSV1 in the trigeminal ganglion in the ear as well as the lips (cold sores). HSV2 usually resides in the sacral ganglion in the spine whereit recurs in the genital area. HSV1 and 2 are highly contagious through contact. |
