General Information
| Biological Significance | MPO is an enzyme contained in azurophilic granules (MW ca. 140 kDa) and it is a covalently linked complex of two alpha chains (MW ca. 60 kDa) and two beta chains (MW ca. 14 kDa). MPO is considered as one of the most promising cardiac markers to identify patients with chest pain that are at increased risk of cardiovascular events. Anti-MPO autoantibodies are serological markers for certain systemic vasculitides. The purified MPO antigen can be used for the detection of anti-MPO autoantibodies in immunoassays, in immunochemical and biochemical MPO studies. |
