Images
Western blot analysis using Na+ K+ ATPase alpha 1 antibody (10R-N102a)
Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with anti- Na+/K+ ATPase alpha-1 (0.05 ug/mL). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a chemi-luminescence detection system. Arrow indicates alpha-1 subunit (~100 kDa).

General Information
| Biological Significance | Na+/K+-ATPase (also known as the Na+/K+ pump or sodium-potassium pump) is an enzyme located in the plasma membrane (specifically an electrogenic transmembrane ATPase). It is found in the plasma membrane of virtually every human cell and is common to all cellular life. It helps maintain cell potential and regulate cellular volume. In order to maintain the appropriate concentrations, the sodium-potassium pump pumps sodium out and potassium in through active transport. |
