General Information
| Biological Significance | Nth, also known as Endonuclease III, has an apurinic and/or apyrimidinic endonuclease activity and a DNA N-glycosylase activity. This enzyme incises damaged DNA at cytosines, thymines and guanines. Nth acts on a damaged strand, 5' from the damaged site. This enzyme is required for the repair of both oxidative DNA damage and spontaneous mutagenic lesions. Recombinant E. coli nth protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography. |
