General Information
| Biological Significance | PHGDH is induced by 17-beta-estradiol (estrogenic ligand) and 4-hydroxytamoxifen (agonist/antagonist ligand). It is positively regulated by the transcription factors SP1 and NF-Y.Defects in PHGDH are the cause of phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase deficiency (PHGDH deficiency). It is characterized by congenital microcephaly, psychomotor retardation, and seizures. |
