Viral proteins

Viruses generate proteins as part of their life cycle particularly when infecting a host. Many of these proteins are structural, forming the viral envelope and capsid, while others possess enzymatic and polymerase functions. Understanding how viral proteins are produced, their interaction with the machinery of the host cell and their other behaviours can provide important targets for researchers searching for ways to destroy viral particles or prevent their replication. Studying viral proteins can also provide new targets for vaccine development and the development of more effective diagnostic procedures.

Fitzgerald Industries offers a vast range of native and recombinant viral proteins for research and diagnostic use. Our viral proteins are the ideal choice for ELISA, immunoassays, Western Blotting, Lateral Flow and more. Some of our most popular viral proteins include:

Hepatitis C Virus NS3 protein

The RNA helicase/protease NS3 plays a central role in the RNA replication of hepatitis C virus and is an important drug target in the effort to combat Hepatitis C. This recombinant Hepatitis C Virus NS3 protein is expressed in E.coli and is ideal for use in ELISA assays.

HBcAg protein

The Hepatitis B core protein selectively packages the viral genome and is a key feature of its structure. We list a number of HBcAg proteins such as this recombinant HBcAg protein is expressed in yeast and recommended for use in ELISA and Western blotting. Alternatively, this HBcAg protein (His tag) is ideal for Lateral Flow applications.

HIV1 gp120 protein

Envelope glycoprotein GP120 (or gp120) is a glycoprotein exposed on the surface of the HIV envelope. The 120 in its name comes from its molecular weight of 120 kilodaltons. gp120 is essential for virus entry into cells as it plays a vital role in seeking out specific cell surface receptors for entry.  This HIV1 gp120 protein is >95% pure and ideal for use in ELISA assays.

Epstein-Barr Virus Early Antigen protein (EBV EA protein)

Epstein-Barr Virus is a virus of the herpes family, and is one of the most common viruses in humans. The Epstein-Barr virus early antigen (EA) complex consists of multiple proteins with relevance for diagnosis of acute, chronic and malignant EBV related diseases. We offer both native EBV EA protein which is purified from the Raji EBV strain and recombinant EBV EA protein which is >95% pure and ideal for use in ELISA and Western blotting.

Dengue protein

Dengue virus in one of four serotypes and is the cause of dengue fever. It is a mosquito-borne single positive-stranded RNA virus of the family Flaviviridae; genus Flavivirus. All four serotypes can cause the full spectrum of disease. The primary life cycle of the dengue virus involves humans and mosquitoes. We provide a broad range of Dengue virus proteins for use in lateral flow, ELISA and Werstern blotting. This native Dengue protein is Subtype 2 and highly purified from Vero cells against a sucrose gradient. We also other Dengue subtypes in  native form such as Dengue Type 1 protein, Dengue Type 2 protein, Dengue Type 3 protein and Dengue Type 4 protein, as well as a broad range of recombinant Dengue proteins.
