General Information
| Biological Significance | PSIP is a transcriptional coactivator involved in neuroepithelial stem cell differentiation and neurogenesis. |
|---|---|
| Expression | SIP is highly expressed in the presence of the menin/MLL protein complex. Tissue and Cell Localization: PSIP1 is found mainly in the nucleus and remains chromatin-associated throughout the cell cycle. |
| Implications in Disease | A chromosomal aberration involving PSIP is associated with pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Defects in PSIP1 expression have also been linked with dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors. |
| Post-Translational Modifications | PSIP is citrullinated by PADI4. Ubiquitination occurs at Lys6, Lys75, Lys364, Lys407, Lys415, Lys422, Lys424 and Lys442. PSIP1 is phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR. |
