| Expression | Increased SLA expression has been reported in some instances of bone marrow cancer. SLA is expressed in lung and fetal brain. Weakly expressed in heart, adult brain, placenta, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. |
| Implications in Disease | Defects in SLA expression have been reported in several bone marrow cancers but its role is not fully understood. Other diseases associated with SLA include pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 2d, causing mental retardation in the foetus. |
| Post-Translational Modifications | Ubiquitination of SLA occurs at Lys60, Lys93, Lys104, Lys117, Lys252 and Lys264. |
