General Information
| Biological Significance | Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is the main psychoactive substance found in the cannabis plant. There is no evidence to suggest that THC is physically addictive, though one may become mentally dependent on the drug as a result of habit or an emotional connection with it. The pharmacological actions of THC result from its binding to the cannabinoid receptor CB1, located mainly in the central nervous system, and the CB2 receptor, mainly present in cells of the immune system. |
