General Information
| Biological Significance | TROVE2 is an RNA-binding protein that binds to misfolded non-coding RNAs, pre-5S rRNA, and several small cytoplasmic RNA molecules. |
|---|---|
| Expression | TROVE2 expression is elevated during cellular reproduction. Tissue and Cell Localization: TROVE2 is found mainly in the cytoplasm of mammalian cells. It is localized in cytoplasmic mRNP granules containing untranslated mRNAs. |
| Implications in Disease | Diseases associated with TROVE2 include sjogren's syndrome, a chronic autoimmune disease in which the body's white blood cells destroy the exocrine glands, specifically the salivary and lacrimal glands, and congenital heart block, a problem affecting the heart's electrical system controling the rate and rhythm of heartbeats. |
| Post-Translational Modifications | Ubiquitination occurs at Lys224, Lys227, Lys342 and Lys359. Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR. |
