Storage & Safety
Storage
Store at 4 deg C for short term storage. For long term storage aliquot and store at -20 deg C, avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
General Information
Biological Significance
IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis protein) is an evolutionarily conserved inhibitory factor of apoptosis. IAP directly binds to caspase which plays the central role in operation of apoptosis and inhibits it. Human XIAP (Xchromosomelinked inhibitor of apoptosis protein) is known as one of the IAP family and binds to caspase 3, 7, and 9 directly and inhibits their functions. XIAP has three BIR (baculovirus IAP repeat) domains. It is confirmed that BIR2 domain binds to caspase 3 and 7, and BIR3 domain binds to caspase 9. Also it is known that the RING finger domain has a ubiquitin ligase activity and is associated with ubiquitination of caspase.
